Becoming Grown Folk

Daddy holding his great granddaughter Erin-Elaine, my granddaughter

You don't put down roots, and not expect to become a tree, or a plant. One does not get down to the task of building a home, and not build a foundation first. One does not grow from their youth gracefully with intelligence to mature into adulthood as a woman and a man and not expect to be honored and respected in small and obvious ways. It is not the way of the People to expect anything less. It is the way Life teaches us to mature without clinging. - Gregory E. Woods, Keeper of Stories 11.6.13
